Clocks come in numerous materials, kinds, shapes, brands and colors. The ones that are made of wood or made of wood combined with other materials, are the most popular among collectors.

Wooden clocks have different styles and designs. Statistics reveal that collectors prefer the antique style with carved designs. Among these clocks the grandfather clock is the most expensive and simultaneously the most wanted collector's item.

Real enthusiasts buy grandfather clocks from different designers and manufacturers (brands) so they are able to create a diverse collection. The most famous brands are Howard Miller, Hermle, Kieninger, Ridgeway and Crosley.

Wooden materials are quite versatile and can easily be combined with other material. It can be painted in any color you like. Since wood can be easily carved, grandfather clocks can be manufactured in numerous shapes and designs. There are also pendulum clocks with a pendulum that is made of a combination of wood and glass. Oak, pine, birch and cherry wood are the most used materials for floor clocks.

Watch out for cheap offers coming from China. These clocks are often made of inferior materials. My personal experience tells me that it's better to order clocks from American companies like Cymax, WalMart and Amazon. If you order from these companies, you'll also enjoy a better after sales service and often free delivery and setup of your new clock.
