A lot of things are happening at the moment. A preacher suggests burning the Quran on 9/11. President Obama orders the US Forces to pull out of Iraq. On the Internet, a baby became famous for being a chain smoker and, in the Philippines, controversies continue to roll about the killing of eight Hong Kong nationals and the SWAT team's failed attempt to rescue them. There are so many things happening in the world, it's easy to lose sight of God and his eternal love for his greatest creation.

A lot of people are starting to lose faith in God's love. They argue-and they argue a lot-that if God truly loves us, why does he allow all these things to happen? If God was powerful, if He was indeed omniscient, why doesn't He do anything about the bad things that people do to each other every day? Why does He watch and does nothing else?

Anyone who's read the Bible will tell you God indeed loves mankind. In fact He loves all of his creations. If He didn't love us-what He created in His own image according to the Genesis-He'd have disposed of us a long time ago and created something even better, something superior in all aspects. God could do that if He wanted to. But God's love is willing to forgive and He wants us to redeem ourselves, just like how He gave Noah a second chance by telling him to build a giant ark.

What kind of evidence do we have in the Bible that shows God's enduring love for mankind? Jesus Christ was crucified and died on the cross for the sins of mankind, that kind of evidence. The Bible says,

"For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life." John 3:16.

God had to watch his Son suffer and die so that his creation could live an eternal life.

One of the earliest instances where God showed His love was when He instructed Moses to show His Ten Commandments to His people. He gave us the Ten Commandments so we could stay on the right path back to His Kingdom left behind by Adam and Eve. If God had no love for His creations, why would he ask us to follow His wishes and be on His good side?

God also showed his love during the story of Abraham.

"The Lord did not love you and choose you because you outnumbered other peoples; you were the smallest nation on earth. But the Lord loved you and wanted to keep the promise that he made to your ancestors. That is why he saved you by his great might and set you free from slavery to the king of Egypt." Deut 7: 7-8.

God saved the Israelites from slavery. He saved them so they could build a nation on which He would give us His only Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Bible is all about God's love. As a Christian, do you have faith in this love and therefore love God back?
