Is the man in your life constantly working around the house or tinkering with gadgets and working on a never-ending project? Does it sound like I'm talking about you? If this is the case, using protective wear and safety equipment is something you must have. Don't be a statistic, like so many others, because you chose not to use protective wear or use safety equipment properly.

Protective wear is a broad category that consists of several things. You might need to protect yourself with eyewear, footwear, gloves, ear protection or even clothing that is flame, water or cut-resistant.

If you don't mind getting dirty working in the garden or about the yard, consider a pair of durable cowhide gloves. Cowhide gloves are strong and sturdy and will protect your hands when planting or uprooting trees, and other kinds of green thumb activities. These kinds of gloves also come in handy for those who enjoy tinkering on automobiles. The cowhide material is water-resistant and useful when keeping oil and other toxins off the bare skin.

If your favorite pastime or occupation takes you out into the open beneath direct sunlight, you will be in need of eye protection. And just because you're needing to be safe doesn't mean that you can't be fashionable. There are a lot of shapes and colors of safety eyewear, including amber or blue mirror. And your eye gear should also feature wraparound lenses for extra-added protection and soft nose pieces for comfort.

And if your hobby or occupation has you working in a less-than-quiet environment, you will need to think about protecting your ears. As you can see, there are countless reasons to use safety equipment. Whether your favorite pastime is low-risk or high-risk, or whether there are regulations that mandate your use of such equipment, always keep your safety in mind. And don't sacrifice this safety because you're worried about fashion. Once more, your safety should be in the forefront of your mind.

Gloves, safety clothing and equipment can be found in an array of colors, including the traditional blues and grays, tans, striped patterns, rugged leathers or the more risqué camouflage. To beat a dead horse one more time: fashion shouldn't be the determining factor for your safety. If you find an experienced retailer, you can find protective wear or safety equipment that is both trendy and reliable. A lot of merchants have taken to the online market place, so there are a lot of reasonably-priced selections. And if the man in your life is handy, be sure to give him a gift that will protect him.
