Winter is truly upon us, and finding temporary work over the holiday period is a fantastic opportunity to make a little extra cash. Working temporarily over the Christmas holiday season isn't exactly idea for everyone, but it's fair to say that there are plenty of University, 6th form and college students on a break over the winter period who are all looking for ways to earn some money to carry through to next year. Throughout the duration of the winter and Christmas season, shopping centres and town centres boom with busy shoppers racing to get in some Christmas shopping and benefit from the January sales. This is why temporary jobs in retail open up nationwide during this season; this opens multiple doors for those seeking temporary work. Stores and shopping malls tend to extend their opening hours during this season too so be prepared to work later than you expected; if you are willing to be flexible with the hours you can work you are sure to be more appealing to potential employers.

Restaurants and hotels are extremely busy during the winter period; people tend to get a little more generous with their cash and short breaks and meals out are much more frequent. This is why jobs in restaurants and hotels are so plentiful during the winter holidays; extra staff are required to deal with the extra business these establishments are receiving. If you are looking to gain skills in food preparation and hygiene, customer service or secretarial duties then catering and hospitality jobs could be perfect for you!
Bar Work
Bar work is hugely popular during the Christmas season; it fair to say younger applicants won't really succeed here, the applicant must meet the minimum age requirements (each to their respective country) and be able to work quickly and handle cash effectively. If you feel you would thrive working in a high pressure environment such as this then scout your local pubs and bars, you are sure to find vacancies that could may well supply you with enough tips and cash to fuel your of Christmas spending spree!
