Just like people, your dog will need a physical examination every year. This is an important part to keeping them healthy and in good shape during the year. When you get them their examination on a regular basis, you help with the detection of a disease that can be cured when found in the early stages. In fact, there are a number of diseases that can be prevented when you have your dog examined on a regular basis.

What is often found is that most people don't understand the importance of the annual examination. They assume that their dog is healthy, and there is no reason for them to visit the vet. But some illnesses don't become a problem, until they are too late. These can be items like heart murmurs and even high blood pressure. It is possible that your dog is very ill, and you have no idea about it as well. When a dog is ill, they won't let on to it until things become too painful to ignore. This is why it is essential that you get them the physical treatment they need, so you can prevent further damage being done to your dog.

Unless you are a veterinarian, you might not have all the answers to health issues that are bothering your dog. While many people will look information up online to self diagnose their pet, the vet can verify a problem in moments. They will have the tools to check your dog's heart and see if there are any problems, in addition, they can handle the teeth, lungs and other areas of your pet as well.

Most importantly, the vet will also be able to check for other problems we overlook. Just like you, your dog will need his ears cleaned, and other areas treated as well. There might even be cases where you don't notice a skin problem that the vet can correct quickly. In addition, they might find that your dog is heavier than is healthy for them, and suggest you help your dog lose some weight.

Blood testing will be done during this time, and they will check for dangerous parasites like heart worm, and other ailments that can grow inside your pet. When this is done, and your dog is free from the problem, your vet will be able to provide you with the medications needed to keep them free and clear from these awful diseases.

Shots will be the one other part of the physical examination that will be required. These will include Rabies as needed and annual shots as well. It is important that you keep up on these shots, ,as they will help to keep your pet healthy and vibrant for a long time, as well as avoiding diseases that will be painful to watch him go through.

If it has been more than a year since your dog has had a physical, take the time now to setup an appointment for him. This will ensure you both have a long and happy life together, and he'll be sure to show you that love back with endless amounts of affection.
