A variety of metal cutting machines are coming up every day. This has been made possible by the advancements in technology. Machines like the brake press help in improving the quality of industrial products by enabling bending of sheet metals. Were it not for the punch and shear cutting tools and the CNC Plasma Cutting Machines many industries would not have been able to come up with the products they make. The process of making metal, wood or even welding would not have been possible if such machines had not been invented.
These machines are quite reliable as they provide safe and effective ways of cutting metal sheets. The brake press bends metal sheets by applying a significant amount of force using mechanical or hydraulic processes or both. The metal sheet is placed between a punch and die that are close together. In order to come up with quality defect free bends when using the brake press proper methods should be applied in the process.
The punch and shear cutting tools basically use shearing and punching in order to cut metal. Punching which involves drilling holes in metallic materials is usually carried out by a punch block and a pin. The punch block is replaceable and the pin is specially formulated and hardened enough to perform the task. Shearing in simple terms involves a quick and safe way of cutting hot flat strip metal, solid square bar and round metal rods to length using the punch and shear.
The CNC Plasma Cutting Machines uses the plasma cutting process to cut steel and other metals of varying thickness. The machines use inert gas blown at high speed out of a nozzle to the surface being cut turning that gas into plasma. Plasma is usually hot enough to melt the metal being cut and moves very fast blowing the molten metal away from the cut.
Punching machines are also used in bending metal. They use the punching process which is basically a tool called a punch. The punch is forced through the metal using a punch press to come up with a hole via shearing. This is the cheapest method of creating holes in metal surfaces. Band saws can also be used to cut metal using a blade. The blade has teeth on one edge and can cut irregular, curved or straight metal shapes.
Cutting machines have improved in speed and the number of functions they can perform. With this they have become even more dangerous and therefore cannot be carelessly used All cutting machines should be used by experts who have been trained on how to handle them .Machines like the band saws and brake press can cause very bad cuts if mishandled. The CNC Plasma Cutting Machines should never be used without protective goggles as they are very dangerous and could result in a condition known as the arc eye. Protective gear should be worn by everyone who enters the industry. This will prevent any avoidable accidents from taking place.
