Space-based solar power is a method of using solar power satellites to collect solar energy so that it can be distributed for use all over the earth. This amazing technology could be an apt answer for the growing needs of the world energy resource consumption.A recent study states that the in 2050 earth will need to produce 3 times the energy it produces now to feed the world population hence we are in dire need to find out a solution and many feel that this SBSP will be one of the best solution.

Benefits of Space based Solar Power:
The first benefit of solar power satellites or powersats is the fact that space-based solar power collection is virtually unaffected by the day and night cycles of the sun, with only minor effects from orbital eclipse. On the earth's surface, solar panels can only collect solar energy for a maximum of 9 hours per day and when there is cloud cover this number is even lower. Space based Solar Power can be collected 24 hours per day for the majority of the year and this means at least 5 times more space-based solar power can be collected than that collected by solar panels on the surface. That's 5:1 in favour of space-based solar power. In areas where it is frequently cloudy, this number jumps to 25:1.

Space based Solar Power is a method of collection that is not affected by weather on the surface, the seasons, or by the earth's atmosphere, which can act as a filter, reducing the strength of the solar energy. This means that it is far more reliable than surface solar panels and it is also a renewable source of energy.

Space based Solar Power is the energy of the future. It is generated via solar power satellites, otherwise known as powersats, and the energy is transmitted wirelessly to receiving stations on the earth's surface. Space based Solar Powerallows for a significant increase in the amount of solar power collected compared to solar power collection on the surface of the earth as the solar power satellites are not affected by the earth's atmosphere, seasons, weather, or cycles of day and night.

Solar power satellites, otherwise known as powersats, orbit the earth and are designed to capture solar energy and transmit that energy to receiving stations that are situated thousands of miles from each other on the surface of the earth. These satellites are made up of a number of modules outfitted with light weight photovoltaic solar panels.

It is clean, it is green, and it is safe. Collecting solar power in space is also more efficient than collecting solar power on the surface of the earth for many reasons.
