As per stress experts, there are actually primarily three sources for those brain-pounding, heart-thumbing, knotted -stomach feeling known as "stressed out". First is the loss of the sensation of control; second, losing of the sensation of choice; and the third is the wherewithal to calculate what's coming next.
Here is how to overcome these three and how to conquer stress.
1. Seize control. When it comes to stress, just remember that you do not have control over things. Recognize the items that you won't be able to change. Here is ways to enable you to fain that point of view.
a. Think small. The class room is really a chaos with rowdy kids. A home is a mess and you are feeling overwhelmed. Think small! Taking hold over something small, even a kitchen drawer, gives the brain rest from stress since you are fooling the head into pondering you're on top of things. c. Complete a priority list. Anytime all else fails, make a list. List-making breaks stress for a number of reasons. To start out, you will be doing something productive with the energy surge produced by excess adrenaline. It may also help to outline your alternatives and clarify your priorities. There will be something soothing about putting things down in black and white. It could be that knowing what to do next is half the battle to fight stress.
3. Plan for the future. Controlling stress here and now is a thing, but how do you keep from worrying about the future? The unpredictability of it can send your stress level up. Think about these suggestions for working with fear of the unknown.
a. Do anything rhythmic. Rock in a chair, use your son's drums, play your step aerobics tape, and go on. It is not for the pace, but also for the predictability. You are doing something to tell your brain you know what is approaching next. Remember, an inability to handle the minute-by-minute progression of things is a leading cause of stress.
b. Face the unknown. If something is beyond your control, try to ignore it. But if there is some way to chip away at the unknown, do it. Concerned about your child's university costs? Maybe a local bank representative can suggest how much to target for savings each week. Knowing you have money in the bank can be very comforting.
C. Have a break. Take time out each day, say 20 minutes or so. You will slow down - maybe even stop - the adrenaline from coursing through your body.
