When everything has been settled for your wedding, you can now take that long bath, sleep and rest that you've been dreaming for the past days of nuptial preparations. Friends have been very supportive and almost everyone of them wants to have something to contribute to your wedding – even planning the bridal shower you forgot.

We all have different definitions of the word friendship. If you call your friend at three in the morning, because you wanted to cry and talk about the misunderstandings you and your partner had, and she does not answer, can you still call her a friend? If you asked your wedding day best man for a drink but he turns you down because he doesn't drink anymore, will you still call him a friend?

You see, we have different sets of friends. We have friends that we call to go on shopping, go to movies with, go to bars with. There are friends that we cannot ask to go with us to bars because it's not just their thing. Inversely, there are friends that don't like going to the grocery or do some laundry – simply because, they don't. We also have friends that we see once in a while, but we love them so dearly. These are the type of friends that you scream with joy when you incidentally see each other on some place. You know, those type of friends that you will postpone the difficult to secure appointment to your dermatologist or the dentist just to catch up on each other. And we also have friends that we only function as sponges to them – listen to their unending patterns of hurt and pain. Let's not forget the friends that we have at the office, the ones we pledge alliance with against the catty boss' secretary.

Regardless of their classification, whether long time, middle-duration or at the level of acquaintances, they will always somehow get word of your wedding plans (even those you do not want to invite). The question is, who to invite with for your bridal shower (if you are having one). If you are not having one, who would most likely plan to surprise you with a bridal shower? Usually, the first person or group of people that comes into your mind, are the closest friends you have. They will be the ones that will make your bridal shower a memorable one.

If you are planning to have a bridal shower, it is recommended that you leave some planning to your best friends. You can just take care of the bridal shower favors. This will give your friends something to do, while you are busy with wedding preparations (to prevent them from inviting you to parties – rationalizing that you ought to spend partying your remaining days of being single). Before you decide on the favors, it is best that you browse promotional products and choose something that will best describe how you feel about the wedding and about your friends. If they like writing, stationery are the best favors. If they love pampering themselves, there are usable wedding favors, too. If you are in the mood for getting mushy, then you could look out for something that can be personalized for them to hold for a long time like key chains and luggage tags.

To be polite, it is expected to invite friends that border on the classification of just acquaintances to your wedding. On the other hand, it is also expected that you invite just the closest friends you have for your bridal shower. The question is, how can you differentiate 'close' from the 'best?'
