Due to the changing weather- cold to warm and vice versa - condensation in windows happens. This would involve accumulated dew that would fog up the glass window. This might not bother some house owners but this will surely irk you if it will begin staining your woodwork or dripping wet on your wallpapers. Water would easily come off the shiny surface of the glass window.

Condensation happens when there is a quick change in the weather within a day. This is the change of a matter from gas to liquid. This can happen to both the exterior and interior part of the window. There are two types of condensation. You should know them so that it will be easier on your part to solve this problem with your glass windows. You would not want to keep on changing your damaged woodwork and wallpapers just because of condensation.

• Exterior condensation usually happens when the day is warm and is followed by a cool night. When moist air from the warm day would come in contact with the cool surface of the glass, dew would gather on the window.

• Interior condensation, on the other hand, happens when the moist air would come from the excessive humidity within the house. Hot air would produce humidity that would usually gather in the colder areas in the house, usually near the window areas. The more humid the house is, the more condensation will be formed on the window glass.

If you are considerably bothered by condensation, you should address this problem immediately. This way, you would not have to deal with wet wallpapers and rotten woodwork due to the moist gathered by condensation on the glasses of your window areas. It would be so much easier for you to address this problem if you know some proactive measures.

• Invest in exhaust fans and install them in areas where moist or humid air could gather such as in the kitchens, laundry room, and bathrooms. You should buy those exhaust fans which you can program to work for fifteen to twenty minutes after you use those rooms where you installed them. They will remove the moisture off your bathrooms and let the hot air out of your kitchen after cooking or baking.

• Devices that blow off hot air should be aired outside of the house such as the clothes dryers and gas burners. This is to avoid gathering moist air inside the house. During the summer, the use of the clothes dryers should be done outside the house to avoid moisture collection.

• Humidifying devices should also be used sparingly and turned off when not in use. When the air gets cold outside, humidifiers should be replaced by the use of dehumidifiers instead.

• Fireplaces should have dampers that will allow moist air to come out of the house. Firewood should already be dry upon getting them inside the house.

• Use double- or triple-glazed storm windows inside the house.

• Let the air out of the house even for a few minutes daily.

• With the use of a heating system, an air exchange system should also be installed.

• Plants should not be placed near window areas.

• Cover things that give off humidity such as fish tanks, plants, and water dishes.
