How To Get Started Promoting Clickbank Products For Profit

Clickbank has been around for quite awhile, and promoting Clickbank products is still one of the best ways to earn money in affiliate marketing. Due to the fact that they cut affiliate checks every 2 weeks, and have never missed a pay run, they remain the #1 "go-to" spot for affiliate marketers...especially beginning affiliate marketers.
Clickbank is easy to navigate and has such a large selection of products to promote, but if you are a beginning affiliate marketer it can all seem overwhelming. It just seems that way though. In reality, Clickbank is the easiest affiliate network in the world to understand and earn from when you break it down into it's most basic elements. The best part is, just by knowing these basic elements you can turn your efforts there into a full-time scaleable online income!
The first thing you will need to learn are the fundamental processes that make Clickbank work. As a beginner it is real easy to get focused on many of the wrong things, especially sales numbers. This can cause you to promote Clickbank products you think will sell well, but in reality are poor choices. Here are the basics you need to start with:
1) Get Registered
We might as well start at the beginning. To promote Clickbank products, you need to sign up as a Clickbank affiliate. Signup is really simple. You just go to the Clickbank.com website and click on the signup link in the menu at the top of the site. Then, you fill out the form, agree to the contract and click submit. The good thing about Clickbank is that there is no lengthy application process. You will immediately be accepted as an affiliate.
2) Study the Marketplace
Once you have your affiliate username you will be able to promote and sell anything that is available in the Clickbank product Marketplace. You can browse through the thousands of products you can now sell by going to the Marketplace and searching for products of interest by category. You can also just click on the categories made available to you on the left hand side of the marketlace.
Everything is neatly organized and you can review the different products in many ways according to the metrics you choose. At this point you will also be able to look at the individual product sales pages to get a good feel for what it is you would be selling.
My advice is to have a look through the entire marketplace before you attempt to sell anything. Play with the different options available to you and learn how to navigate everything. Spend some time looking over the different products you may like to sell. As you learn to read the data you may come to find that products you are interested in selling may not be hot sellers, or that the ones which are selling well, are in niches that are extremely competitive for a beginner to enter into.
3) Picking A Winning Product
To really get deep into what it takes to pick a good product to sell on Clickbank would require a separate article. There are many factors involved. To get you starte dthough here are some things to look for.
At first glance, pay attention to the commission total, average conversion rate, and product popularity. These three pieces of information will tell you much of what you need to know to determine if a product is worth selling. Obviously, if all three of these are high you know you have a product that sells well, but that is all you know. There are just too many other variables in place that you need to be aware of as well.
When you are just starting out promoting Clickbank products, popular products with good conversion rates and higher commission rates may be your best bet. You will want to take a look at the product presentation itself before you make your final decision. If you are knowledgeable about the market you are looking to sell products in, then reviewing the product presentation (sales letter) yourself is the way to go. If it is presented in a way that makes you want to buy you likely have a winner.
In conclusion, keep in mind Clickbank has thousands of products available to sell, in hundreds of different markets. When you are first starting out it is real easy to get overwhelmed by it all. I advise you to start out in areas you have an interest in and that you know something about. This will make it easier to choose good products for your first few promotions and help you avoid wasting your time on promoting Clickbank products that will not be worth your effort.
