In various countries the importance of alarm system is seen differently. Where crime is a way of life citizens accept that they are prisoners in their own homes. This may seen preposterous to people living in other countries but in the world that is now like a village changes are afoot.

In some countries not to have an alarm system is to invite robbery, assault, rape and murder. Protection becomes a necessity of life. The national police force in such countries is completely useless, or worse, in cahoots with criminal elements. In these circumstances ordinary citizens need to band together with private security forms to protect themselves.

In crime ridden countries ill doers permeate society and are to be found in offices, schools hospitals, shops and roaming the streets. They target the vulnerable, like predators singling out the disabled, the elderly and the weak. In such societies crooks can be found at all levels of society. The media in such societies report daily on instances of crime that warn of the need to be eternally vigilant in the interests of self preservation.

For example, in such a country a man was recently working at his computer at three o'clock in the morning. The interior lights of his house were on but all was dark outside. Suddenly there was a sudden and tremendous crash of glass breaking. By the time the man reached his bedroom and intruder was standing inside brandishing an ax. He had smashed a pane of whole glass by throwing a cement block at it. Similar incidents are enacted throughout the country on a daily basis.

In this instance the mistake was to assume security when working within one's own home with the lights on. This is no longer the case since criminals across the world apparently use the illumination as means of identifying where valuables are, and where the victims are so that they can be violently assaulted.

In societies sick with crime short term insurers raise their premiums when building operations commence in some in certain localities. This is because construction works traditionally scout out the details of neighboring houses such as security arrangements and defense capabilities. This information is passed on to robbers who are often members of the family. As work proceeds on a new house robberies take place round about.

Law abiding people try to emigrate from sick societies but that is not always possible. Countries with low crime rates cannot accept everyone, and not everyone can leave their home country easily. Those who are forced to stay have to survive on as best they can and in their efforts they often develop survival skills, the most important of which is eternal vigilance.

One valuable observation is that crime is organized by international criminals who use children and other small fry to carry out the criminal acts. The globalization of crime means that people in countries with low crime rates cannot afford to relax. International crime organizations are always on the lookout for people who are off guard and who may be taken unaware. Another observation is that eternal vigilance has become a requirement in a world where the vulnerable are increasingly becoming the prey of criminals. This is why the importance of alarm system cannot be overlooked.
